Problem with text entering

Postby DennisUA on Fri Dec 12, 2008 10:23 am

Hello everyone,
Would you please suggest how to enter cyrilic text? When I enter text in the drawing note I see it displayed correctly but on actual drawing letters get messed up.
The M4 (for the hole) is typed in English, so no problem here.
See the attached gif.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

I guess you've got a Cyrillic font selected.

Yep. Seems like some UNICODE problem. There's no special Cyrilic font, it's regular Arial with Cyrilic "script" option selected. And text in forms is displayed correctly, but not on the drawing (and neither on part or assembly views).

Give me some minutes I will check this :)

Please have a look in your task manager, is there a conime.exe?

OK, I think it is easy for you to change:

Hi Ralph,
It's Cyrilic there. In English version it is called "script"
As you can see the letters displayed are also Cyrilic but wrong ones.
What's conime.exe? I don't have it. And don't remember ever having it.

Dennis, I think, cyrillic is another one.

Sorry, I meant there's Cyrillic in the field script (Skript in your case).

Me again.
Tried several languages that use Cyrilic letters (Russian, Ukrainian, Belorussian, Bulgarian) and they all were displayed incorrectly. Finally I stepped into Kyrgyz Cyrilic which is displayed incorrectly in the form field BUT correctly on the screen. Go figure! I also tried German, French and Slovenian languages and everything was OK.
Seems very much like a bug to me.

Hi Dennis,

I suppose you have no cyrillic fonts installed.
I think Alibre is not responsible to install all fonts in all languages. (Too many fonts slow down the computer)
You can download nativ Arial cyrillic fonts: http://www.searchfreefonts.com/search/?p=2&q=Arial

After downloading some fonts; go to folder: Windows -> fonts -> File -> Install new font -> browse...

Ralf,
Alibre is not installing fonts. It uses Windows standard fonts. TTF fonts contain several versions (for different languages) of the same font. Cyrilic, Western, Hebrew, etc.
And again, ALibre is displaying cyrilic letters, just wrong ones. See my first picture. In the Note form the text after 6 and before M4 (отв) is displayed correctly. While in the main window after 4.0 6 and before M4 goes different text (юЄт) which is also Cyrilic, but letters do not match letters that I type in the Note form.

Hello Dennis and Ralf,
I have encountered the same problem: Cyrillic text appears incorrectly in main screen while text is correct in the edit box of the dialog. After some experiments I have found that it is possible to obtain correct text in both places using exotic (plotter) font with DOS/OEM charset instead of standard Windows 1251. So the bug is related with incorrect charset supposed when the text is drawn in main graphic window. Ralf, please report this to the developers team.

Best regards,
Alexander

Hi Alexander,

I have published the solution here and it is not a problem or a bug for me.
If you have a problem, you can report it:support@alibre.com
